Side Events Announced for the Fifth Clean Energy Ministerial

The fifth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM5) will feature several side events aimed at raising awareness about the CEM and its initiatives, including a Model CEM to engage university students, a “PlugFest” to advance efficient off-grid appliances, and an awards ceremony to recognize global achievements in clean energy.

The Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) Initiative awards Global Efficiency Medals to Samsung and LG

The SEAD initiative announced the winners of its Global Efficiency Medal competition for the world’s most energy-efficient computer monitors. Samsung and LG took top honors in the commercially available categories, and Samsung also won in the emerging technology category.

U.S. President Barack Obama has released a comprehensive climate action plan. It calls for cutting carbon pollution, preparing for the impacts of climate change, and leading efforts internationally to address climate change. Expanding efforts through the Clean Energy Ministerial is part of the plan.
