SEAD Announces International Competition to Recognize the Most Efficient Industrial and Outdoor Lighting

The Clean Energy Ministerial’s Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) Initiative announced its sixth international competition to recognize the world’s most energy efficient industrial and outdoor lighting products. SEAD Global Efficiency Medals will be awarded to the most energy efficient industrial and outdoor lighting products in two categories: (1) high and low bay luminaires, and (2) street lighting luminaires, sold across Europe, India, and North America.

Aura Light International, a Swedish manufacturer, won the international award, with Cree, Bajaj Electricals Ltd, and Aura Light International winning the regional awards.

Cree, Nanoleaf, Globe Electric, and Xiamen Yankon Energetic LED Light Bulbs Win SEAD Global Efficiency Medals for Energy Efficiency

The Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) initiative honored the winners of its Global Efficiency Medal competition for super-efficient household LED light bulbs at an awards ceremony at the United Nations Environment Programme in Paris, France. Winning products in the international competition were more than 80% more efficient than comparable incandescent light bulbs.

SEAD Announces International Competition to Recognize World’s Most Energy-Efficient Televisions

The Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) initiative has announced a competition to recognize the most energy-efficient flat-panel televisions around the world. SEAD Global Efficiency Medals will be awarded to the most energy-efficient televisions on the market as well as to new technologies that have the potential to greatly reduce energy use in the future.

Motors are everywhere and efficient – but they can be even better

Material and technological breakthroughs are improving the energy efficiencies of induction and other electric motors by changing how motors work and are controlled. Continued international collaboration and open dialogue, such as that carried out through the SEAD initiative, will help to further shrink motors’ share of energy consumption over the years to come.
