Analysis of the Potential Future of the Lighting Global Quality Assurance Program

This report presents the findings of an investigation into the factors and issues affecting the likely viability of prospective successor organizations to the current Lighting Global (LG) Quality Assurance (QA) organization. The analysis was conducted by Navigant Consulting with support from the Global Off-Grid Lighting Association and is intended to provide useful information to prospective applicants to the IFC’s request for expressions of interest regarding the Lighting Global Off-Grid Lighting Third-Party Certification Body.

GSEP Helps Mexico Identify Significant Energy and Emissions Savings from Cool Roofs

A national study of the potential impacts of cool roofs and surfaces in Mexico finds that switching to cool roofs could help commercial and residential buildings realize typical energy savings of around 7% and 18%, respectively. The study was conducted as part of a comprehensive “Cool Roofs Action Plan” developed through support from the Clean Energy Ministerial’s Global Superior Energy Performance Partnership (GSEP) and adopted by Mexico’s National Commission on Energy Efficiency (CONUEE) in 2012.

New research supported by the Electric Vehicles Initiative (EVI) and conducted by scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory reveals that hybrid cars are significantly more fuel-efficient in India and China than they are in the United States.
