GSK Cork Global Energy Management Implementation Case Study

Through the implementation of a structured EnMS and a culture of continuous improvement, GSK Cork has achieved significant energy, CO2 and cost savings

This case study describes how since EN 16001 certification was achieved in 2011, GSK Cork has achieved an 8.1 % reduction in annual energy consumption and a cumulative reduction in CO2 emissions of 20,309 metric tons and cost savings of $4.6 million. This success was built on earlier energy savings achieved from 2009 through the sites Operational Excellence program. ISO 50001 certification was achieved in 2012.

Baxter Healthcare is the first pharmaceutical company in Brazil to be ISO 50001 certified and has improved energy performance by 30.3% through the Lean Energy Program since 2011

This case study describes how Baxter Brazil has implemented more than 180 projects for energy consumption reduction since the formal Energy Program establishment in 1999, which was the key factor to achieve 68% energy consumption reduction and 80% water consumption reduction. The company’s corporate responsibility initiatives support its mission to apply innovative science to develop hospital and renal products that save and sustain patients' lives.

AbbVie Sligo has delivered an ambitious “Reduce Carbon Footprint” Energy Management program

This case study describes how AbbVie Sligo has delivered an ambitious “Reduce Carbon Footprint” Energy Management program which delivers annual energy efficiency savings of €799,272 and an annual reduction of 2,575 tonnes of CO2 through sustainable development, teamwork, staff engagement and the application of innovative technologies. In addition, the program has delivered an annual reduction of 5,904 MWh of energy savings (11,389 MWh in cumulative savings) to date.
