GSEP Helps Mexico Identify Significant Energy and Emissions Savings from Cool Roofs

A national study of the potential impacts of cool roofs and surfaces in Mexico finds that switching to cool roofs could help commercial and residential buildings realize typical energy savings of around 7% and 18%, respectively. The study was conducted as part of a comprehensive “Cool Roofs Action Plan” developed through support from the Clean Energy Ministerial’s Global Superior Energy Performance Partnership (GSEP) and adopted by Mexico’s National Commission on Energy Efficiency (CONUEE) in 2012.

GSEP Supports Cool Roof Pilot Project on Low-Income Housing in Jasdan, India
A new pilot project will use cool surfaces and other energy-efficient technologies in low-income housing in Jasdan, India, to help cool the homes and lower residents’ energy bills. The Global Superior Energy Performance Partnership (GSEP) Cool Roofs and Pavements Working Group is supporting the pilot project in collaboration with the local nonprofit Sustainable Urban Climate Change & Energy Efficiency Development (SUCCEED).

World Energy Leaders Highlight Progress and Announce New Actions on Clean Energy at Fifth Clean Energy Ministerial

On 12–13 May, energy leaders from the world’s largest economies and others gathered in Seoul for the fifth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM5) to strategize next steps in their efforts to accelerate the deployment of clean and efficient energy. Energy ministers and other high-level delegates highlighted progress made through the Ministerial’s collaborative initiatives and announced new and expanded actions that will enhance clean energy supply, improve energy efficiency, and expand clean energy access around the world.
