HARBEC’s implementation of the EnMS at its small plastics manufacturing facility in Ontario, New York, enabled a 16.5% improvement in energy performance.

Central Termoeléctrica Genelba Global Energy Management Implementation Case Study

The application of the standard ISO 50001 improves energy performance 13.2% over 2 years

This case study describes how Central Termoeléctrica Genelba, a power generation company, implemented ISO 50001, which allowed the company to reduce its energy consumption by 26 billion BTU (7635 MWh) in a period of two years. This improvement resulted in a reduction of the operating costs by US$ 271,034 and a decrease in CO2 generation by 2,997 tonnes during the same time period.

Cummins achieves 20% energy performance improvement through Corporate EnMS Enterprise

This case study describes how Cummins successfully implemented an EnMS through their Corporate Enterprise approach, which resulted in a combined energy performance improvement of 20.25 percent by 2015 from a 2010 baseline. Their total annual savings are equal to $3,541,365 and 352,434 MMBTU, or 39,740 metric tons of CO2e reduction.

This case study describes how AbbVie Sligo has delivered an ambitious “Reduce Carbon Footprint” Energy Management program which delivers annual energy efficiency savings of €799,272 and an annual reduction of 2,575 tonnes of CO2 through sustainable development, teamwork, staff engagement and the application of innovative technologies. In addition, the program has delivered an annual reduction of 5,904 MWh of energy savings (11,389 MWh in cumulative savings) to date.

Energy Efficiency as a 3M Competitive Advantage

This case study describes how 3M facilities were among the first to pilot the implementation of ISO 50001 in 2011, and, since that time, 3M has implemented the standard at eighteen facilities in seven countries. Superior Energy Performance (ISO 50021) has been implemented at three of the eighteen facilities. 3M facilities participating in ISO 50001 and ISO 50021 have shown an energy performance improvement of 10.5% over the past three years.

Energy4Access Coalition Year of Action 2016

At the COP21 climate negotiations in Paris, the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) announced the launch of the Efficiency for Access (E4A) Coalition, a new collaborative effort between the CEM’s Global Lighting and Energy Access Partnership (Global LEAP) and Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) to accelerate universal access to energy. In coordination with the coalition’s launch, E4A released its 2016 Framework for Action, which outlines E4A’s vision and steps for the coming year towards the overarching goal of deploying super-efficient technologies to enable universal access to enhanced energy services by 2030.

A new report, Situation Analysis of Energy and Gender Issues: Issues in ECOWAS Member States, examines pressing challenges regarding gender inequality and gender’s role in energy interventions in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). This report was supported through the Clean Energy Solutions Center, an initiative of the Clean Energy Ministerial, and was developed in collaboration with the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE).
