Entries Now Open for ISGAN's 2020 Award of Excellence

Nominations are now open for the sixth ISGAN Award of Excellence competition, which will recognize excellence in innovation, integration, and transformation of smart grid systems. The award is sponsored by the Clean Energy Ministerial's International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN), in partnership with the Global Smart Grid Federation (GSGF).

The governments of major smart grid markets have been encouraging the digitalization with smart grid technologies that involve consumer engagement to achieve their renewable energy targets, energy efficiency, and emission reduction targets. And digital platforms are now changing the nature of customer engagement across different domains and services.

As digital technologies are increasingly applied to the energy infrastructure, digitalization continues to disrupt customer service delivery, as well as products and services development. Energy consumers are increasingly embracing digital on their own—going digital for customer service and for comparing enabling new options for buying/selling of electricity and grid services.

At this year’s awards competition, ISGAN will highlight the exemplary projects enabling consumer empowerment by innovative digitalization through smart grid technologies.(Official Theme: Digitalization Enabling Consumer Empowerment)

Any organization with experiences of pilot, demonstration, and deployment projects as well as established programs that demonstrate excellence in employing digitalized smart grid technologies to enable consumers to take more energy control are eligible to apply for the competition.

To enter the competition, each organization must submit a brief but structured case study describing its experience and the resulting benefits. The submissions will be evaluated by an independent panel of international experts.

The submission deadline is 15 November 2019. Interested parties are encouraged to visit the ISGAN Awards website, www.iea-isgan.org/awards, to learn more about the award rules, entry format, scoring, and recognition.

The winning projects will be recognized next year during the eleventh Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM11) meeting, which will be held in Chile and attended by energy ministers and corporate leaders from around the globe.

In addition, the winning projects will be further recognized in ISGAN and GSGF products, proceedings, and events over the ensuing months and promoted to ISGAN and GSGF’s global audience. Moreover, the winners will be offered an opportunity for interviews and exposure via a promotional video which will be publicly distributed via a variety of networks, including ISGAN's official YouTube channel and ISGAN website.
