SEAD Announces International Competition to Recognize World’s Most Energy-Efficient Televisions

The Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) initiative has announced a competition to recognize the most energy-efficient flat-panel televisions around the world. SEAD Global Efficiency Medals will be awarded to the most energy-efficient televisions on the market as well as to new technologies that have the potential to greatly reduce energy use in the future.

Low-carbon energy technologies are a necessary part of any strategy to meet climate goals. On 9 December, the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) hosted a panel discussion during the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP 20) in Lima, Peru. Representatives of several CEM member governments gathered to discuss the impacts of the CEM’s work to accelerate the transition to clean, low-carbon energy among the world’s largest economies and major emitters, as well as the role that the CEM can play in implementing actions and polices to help countries meet their energy-related contributions in a new climate agreement.

Global Efficiency Medal competition targets electric motors, which consume 40% of world’s electricity

The Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) initiative has announced the winners of its Global Efficiency Medal competition for super energy-efficient electric motors. Motors from Nanyang Explosion Protection Group Company Limited and Siemens Limited took top honors.
