World’s Energy Leaders to Gather in San Francisco for 7th Clean Energy Ministerial and Inaugural Mission Innovation Ministerial

On June 1–2, Energy Ministers from Nations with 90% of Clean Energy Investments and 75% of GHG Emissions to Focus on Advancing Clean Energy Cooperation and Implementing Paris Agreement Commitments

Energy ministers and other high-level delegates from over 20 countries and the European Commission will gather in San Francisco, California, on June 1–2 for the seventh Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM7) and inaugural Mission Innovation (MI Ministerial). Included in the two-day agenda will be a series of major announcements, report launches, and commitments from business and government leaders from around the world.

Solutions Center Report Reviews International Experiences in Wheeling and Banking Strategies

Report offers insights for regulators and policy makers working to achieve renewable energy goals

The Clean Energy Regulators Initiative (CERI) has released a new report, Wheeling and Banking Strategies for Optimal Renewable Energy Deployment: International Experiences. CERI is a partnership between two Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) initiatives, the Clean Energy Solutions Center and 21st Century Power Partnership, and Leonardo Energy. As variable renewable generation increases worldwide, policy makers and regulators are adopting new or revised wheeling and banking policies that could effectively support renewable development. The report defines the principles of wheeling (transmission) tariffs and renewable energy banking provisions and their role in renewable energy deployment in countries with plans for large-scale renewable energy.

Global Awards Program to Recognize Leadership in Energy Management

CEM Energy Management Leadership Awards to honor organizations using ISO 50001-certified energy management systems

The inaugural Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) Energy Management Leadership Awards will recognize organizations using an ISO 50001-certified energy management system to save energy and reduce costs. To enter the competition, an organization must submit a copy of its ISO 50001 certificate and a structured case study, which will be evaluated by an independent panel of international experts. Three organizations will receive the prestigious CEM Award of Excellence for Energy Management and will be recognized at an awards ceremony during the Seventh Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM7) meeting in San Francisco on June 2, 2016.
