GSEP Releases Guidance on Energy Performance Measurement and Verification

The Global Superior Energy Performance Energy Management Working Group recently released a document that provides practical guidance on the measurement and verification (M&V) of energy performance data. The document covers all critical aspects of energy data M&V, including minimum reporting measures, formats, statistical methods, data quality levels, cost implications, and strategies for managing uncertainty.

Pilot will help inform larger scale projects and cool surface policies in India

A new pilot project will use cool surfaces and other energy-efficient technologies in low-income housing in Jasdan, India, to help cool the homes and lower residents’ energy bills. The Global Superior Energy Performance Partnership (GSEP) Cool Roofs and Pavements Working Group is supporting the pilot project in collaboration with the local nonprofit Sustainable Urban Climate Change & Energy Efficiency Development (SUCCEED).

GSEP Helps Mexico Identify Significant Energy and Emissions Savings from Cool Roofs

A national study of the potential impacts of cool roofs and surfaces in Mexico finds that switching to cool roofs could help commercial and residential buildings realize typical energy savings of around 7% and 18%, respectively. The study was conducted as part of a comprehensive “Cool Roofs Action Plan” developed through support from the Clean Energy Ministerial’s Global Superior Energy Performance Partnership (GSEP) and adopted by Mexico’s National Commission on Energy Efficiency (CONUEE) in 2012.

EVs could save 4.8 billion barrels of oil, 270 million tons carbon dioxide (CO2)

A new report by the Clean Energy Ministerial’s Electric Vehicles Initiative (EVI) shows the substantial impact that electric vehicle (EV) deployment would have on India’s oil consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Assessing and Accelerating Vehicle Deployment in India finds that the benefits of EVs in India are greater than expected when real-world driving conditions are taken into account.

On 12–13 May, energy leaders from the world’s largest economies and others gathered in Seoul for the fifth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM5) to strategize next steps in their efforts to accelerate the deployment of clean and efficient energy. Today, during the fifth Clean Energy Ministerial in Seoul, Korea, the International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) and the Global Smart Grid Federation (GSGF) announced Entergy New Orleans, Inc.’s “SmartView” Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) pilot project as the winner of the first-ever ISGAN Award of Excellence.
