An Empirical Analysis of the Impact of Renewable Energy Deployment on Local Sustainability

This paper analyses the socioeconomic benefits renewable energy projects bring to regions, including diversification of energy supply, enhanced regional and rural development opportunities, and creation of a domestic industry and employment opportunities. Analysis of these benefits has been too general and focus on the local level has been lacking. To narrow the scope, this paper analyses the above benefits by applying a conceptual and methodological framework to three renewable energy technologies in Spain.
