The main purpose of this study is to determine the market potential for photovoltaic (PV) systems in remote areas of China, especially in villages without access to grid electricity. The study provides information on the characteristics, ability to pay, and preferences of potential customers, and details both positive and negative experiences with PV systems. It also provides recommendations to increase to penetration of PV systems in rural China. The main conclusion of the report is that households in remote areas have a significant desire for electricity and that a significant potential market exists for PV systems in many regions.
