This report discusses the relationship between fossil-fuel subsidies and gender in India. Subsidy reform in cooking, lighting, pumping and transport fuels is needed to increase access to sustainable energy and help empower women. The current subsidy landscape provides little benefit to at-risk populations such as women and the poor. Existing efforts for financial inclusion of women are analyzed with time-use and energy household survey data.
