Aligning NDCs and LTS: Implementation
From 17 July to 17 July 2024
Virtual
Webinar
Date: July 17, 2024
Time: 10:00 – 11:30 AM EDT (UTC-4)
Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Long-Term Strategies (LTS) are at the heart of climate planning for many countries. In 2025, countries will submit updated NDCs to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) highlighting their new or updated goals to reach commitments outlined in the Paris Agreement.
This year, GCAP, in partnership with the UNFCCC, will bring members together for the first global workshop since the pandemic. Focusing on NDCs and LTS, the global workshop will support countries in aligning their NDCs with long-term goals and provide pathways for planning, implementing, and financing those commitments. Leading up to the workshop, this webinar series, presented in partnership with the Clean Energy Ministerial’s Clean Energy Solutions Center, will highlight key elements of the NDC and LTS processes as well as share experiences from policymakers around the world.
In the fourth webinar in this series, experts outline key steps for implementation. Esteemed panelists will discuss practical strategies and actionable insights for bridging the gap between policy commitments and on-the-ground implementation. Following informative presentations, participants will be offered a chance to engage in Q&A with the experts.
Speakers will include:
- Roy Bouwer, African Climate Action Partnership, Moderator
- Benon Yassin, Deputy Director of Environmental Affairs, Ministry of Natural Resources, Energy, and Mining, Malawi
- Sangji Lee, Global Technical Specialist on NDCs, UNDP
