GeoFuture Webinar: Policy and Regulatory Conditions
29 September 2026
virtual

This session examines the policy and regulatory frameworks that enable, or constrain, geothermal deployment, including the launch of the European Union’s new regulatory framework for EU member states, alongside U.S. and industry perspectives.
As the second webinar in the GeoFuture Initiative series, this session brings together a national laboratory, a leading international regulatory body, and a geothermal development company to examine how policy and regulatory frameworks can enable geothermal deployment. Speakers will cover international best practices in geothermal regulation, the European Union’s recently published study on regulatory frameworks for geothermal deployment across EU member states, and an industry perspective on how policy and regulation shape project development and deployment.
Speakers will include representatives from the National Laboratory of the Rockies, the European Commission, and Fervo Energy. A moderated audience Q&A will follow.
