Jennifer Daw

Professional Engineer

Jennifer Daw is a Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, and LEED AP O+M with a wide range of domestic and international experience. Jennifer has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering/Sustainable Development from the University of Colorado. Jennifer spent the first 10 years of her career working exclusively with water and wastewater utilities in the United States, Australia and Oman, performing work that ranged from developing sustainability strategies to system modeling and analysis, to design and construction, asset management and capital planning. Since joining NREL, Jennifer’s work has focused on analysis, policy and project development that supports sustainable, low carbon pathways with an emphasis on the energy-water-food nexus. She is actively working in the Caribbean, sub-Saharan Africa and India through programs that include the Clean Energy Solutions Center, Power Africa, EC-LEDS and Greening the Grid. Jennifer’s work includes development of a web portal to disseminate information on the energy-water-food nexus, evaluating renewable energy powered desalination for island nations, assessing alternative water treatment technologies to improve cooling tower efficiency, evaluating energy-water tradeoffs of energy generation and water treatment technologies, developing roadmaps to improve energy efficiency in drinking water system operations, performing feasibility assessments for water-energy microgrids and identifying opportunities to integrate and optimize water and energy system performance.
