First Ever Global MOU on 100% Zero-Emission Medium and Heavy Duty Vehicles Announced under EVI’s Drive to Zero Campaign
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND- Launched today, CEM and CALSTART’s Drive to Zero Campaign, in collaboration with the government of The Netherlands, is proud to announce that 15 nations today agreed toward 100% zero-emission new truck and bus sales by 2040. Under a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Zero-Emission Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicles, Austria, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, and Wales– also set an interim goal of 30% zero-emission vehicle sales by 2030.
In a coordinated effort, subnational governments as well as top manufacturers and fleets agreed to work toward the same 2030 and 2040 zero-emission truck and bus targets.
