In this webinar hosted by the Clean Energy Solutions Center in partnership with the Regulatory Assistance Project, presenters addressed issues related to building a resilient energy system in Puerto Rico following the devastation of Hurricane Maria. The presentation provided an overview of the actions taken by the Puerto Rican Government and focused on the proceedings and activities of the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau. The Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority’s integrated resource plan, energy efficiency and demand response, and micro-grid regulations were discussed.
Presenters and the topics they will cover included:
- Commissioner Ferdinand Ramos-Soegaard at the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau provided an overview of the energy situation in Puerto Rico, post Hurricane, including the actions the Energy Bureau is taking.
- Asa Hopkins from Synapse Energy Economics discussed the resource planning challenges in Puerto Rico before and after the hurricanes, including ongoing planning activities and related issues such as energy efficiency and demand response.
- Janine Migden-Ostrander discussed the microgrid regulations.
- Megan O’Reilly, an associate at RAP, served as moderator.
The presentations were followed by an interactive question and answer session with the audience.
