REN21 Renewables 2014 Global Status Report (Webinar Series)

REN21’s Renewables Global Status Report (GSR), first released in 2005, provides a comprehensive and timely overview of renewable energy market, industry, investment and policy developments worldwide. The report is a collaborative effort involving lead authors, Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21) Secretariat staff and Steering Committee members, regional research partners, and the input of over 500 individual contributors and reviewers. The GSR has become the most frequently referenced report on renewable energy business and policy, serving a wide range of audiences.

The Clean Energy Solutions Center, in partnership with the REN21), hosted a series of webinars in conjunction with the launch of the Renewables 2014 Global Status Report. Each webinar examined a different geographical region, including:

• Africa
• Australia/Oceania
• China
• Europe
• India
• Latin and South America
• Middle East and North Africa
• North America
• Southeast Asia

Attendees of the webinar that launched the series (see above YouTube recording) learned what made 2013 another record year for renewables, what the total global operating capacity of solar PV was and just how much wind power capacity came into operation. The webinar also discussed where the greatest number of additions to electric generating capacity occurred in 2013, who the new leaders in renewable energy deployment are, investment levels and policy developments. A short retrospective illustrated how the renewables sector has evolved over the past decade.
