Sources:

Renewable Energy Center (CER)

This paper explores geothermal resource development within Chile’s 4,000-km long line of active and dormant volcanoes. Over 300 geothermal areas have been identified throughout the country with a market-based estimate in the range of 1,750-5,200 megawatts (MW) for the year 2030. Of the 86 exploration concessions, two have reached an advanced stage. Cerro Pabellón and Curacautín sties have tested production wells and environmental approval for a 50-MW and 70-MW geothermal power plants.
