Utilities

Countries can achieve substantial improvements in energy efficiency by implementing policies and programs that mandate or incentivize electric and natural gas utilities to implement energy efficiency programs for their consumers. These policies can also achieve improvements in utility generation, transmission and distribution efficiency. Such utility efficiency policies can reduce total energy expenditures and greenhouse gas emissions while fostering economic development. This page provides access to technical resources that policymakers can use to inform the design and implementation of energy efficiency policies and programs for the utility sector.
