Large Emerging Economies
Large emerging economies include China, India, South Africa, Mexico, Russia and others that on the aggregate have large gross domestic products and trade flows. However, there are aspects of their economies that may more closely reflect developing countries, such as sectors with fewer private sector players, more monopolies, larger involvement by state-owned enterprises and lower levels of per capita income. Domestic companies may be favored in some markets, resulting in limited opportunities for foreign direct investment.
