Tax Equity

Tax equity is a term that is closely tied to tax incentives. It describes the tax burden that investors can turn into an investment opportunity by offsetting their tax liability. Tax equity has been an especially common way to finance larger renewable energy projects in the United States and is a vital part of the sale-leaseback, partnership flip, yieldco, master limited partnership and real estate investment trust finance structures.
