Power Plant Efficiency
Traditionally, coal has been among the most carbon-intensive sources of energy, but “clean coal” technology might help reduce the greenhouse gas impact of this fundamental energy resource. Clean coal describes the practice of using technologies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions typically associated with the burning of coal for electricity; sometimes, clean coal refers to carbon capture and storage technologies when used in conjunction with industrial-scale power producers. Clean energy policy can encourage progress in developing more efficient uses of coal.
