2017 Carbon Sequestration Technology Roadmap

Sources:

Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum

This road map provides recommendations to Ministers of the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF) member countries on technology developments that are required to facilitate the development and deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. It focuses on collaborative efforts that address key technical, economic and environmental obstacles. With this guidance, the authors hope their ministries can meet their Paris Accord targets by accelerating commercial CCS deployment and prioritizing the following: research, development, and demonstration of improved and cost-effective technologies for the separation and capture of carbon dioxide (CO2); CO2 transport modalities; and long-term safe storage or utilization of CO2. According to the authors, the road map provides evidence that CCS is a critical tool that requires supportive governmental policies to incentivize public and private investment in research and operationalization.
