Mexico: Large-Scale Renewable Energy Development Project

This case study highlights Mexico’s two-phased approach for the development of grid-scale renewable energy investments. To address key policy and tariff issues hindering renewable energy development and facilitate initial investments in grid-connected wind energy, the project introduced a “Fondo Verde” (Green Fund) to support initial projects and technical assistance activities to facilitate project investment. Project impacts and lessons learned are discussed.
