Options for Financing Public Transportation in the United States (Presentation)

Sources:

United States Federal Transit Administration

This presentation presents an overview of the financing options available to policymakers for funding public transportation projects in the United States. The main options are: capital leasing, revenue bonds, debt service reserve, public-private partnerships, the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) program, and borrowing from state infrastructure banks. Each financing option is assessed by proper usage context, benefits, and risks. The presentation also discusses case studies for each of the various financing options.
