Powering Canada’s Journey to Net-Zero: CanREA’s 2050 Vision

This publication explores Canada’s vision to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. It identifies some of the specific measures needed, such as a national clean-electricity standard, full carbon pricing in the electricity sector, modernization of electricity markets and regulatory frameworks in response to disruptive technologies, investment in new transmission and non-wires alternatives, and distinct and comprehensive strategies to both electrify the economy and facilitate the use of green hydrogen.
