Renewable Energy in Industrial Applications: An Assessment of the 2050 Potential

This report focuses on the potential of renewable energy sources for process heat in the industrial sector and for biomass feedstock substitution in industrial processes. Renewable energy can be widely applied in industrial applications. The four options primarily discussed in this report are (1) biomass for process heat, (2) biomass for petrochemical feedstocks, (3) solar thermal systems for process heat and (4) heat pumps for process heat.
