This paper examines how Kenya presents a rare case in which national energy security goals (such as inexpensive and reliable electricity generation) can be seen by both government and donors to be better met by renewable energy technologies than by fossil fuels. The energy sector in Kenya represents a case of the potential and limits of climate compatible development.
